Pre-clinical test systems (in vitro)

All cell cultures use human cells or whole-blood from healthy volunteers.

Activation of human neutrophil granulocytes (e.g. oxygen radical synthesis via chemiluminescence or elastase release)
radical scavenging by the test substance (chemiluminescence and or colorimetry)
Lymphocyte proliferation (MTT)
Lymphocyte proliferation including the measurement of cytokines (e.g. GM-CSF, IFN , IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-10, chemokines, etc.)
Mediator synthesis of leukocytes in whole blood cultures (various, as in D); ELISA)
Prostaglandin / leukotriene synthesis in whole blood cultures (various; ELISA)
Mediator synthesis in monocyte / macrophage cultures (various; ELISA) either using different human cell lines or whole blood
Histamine release (basophils: isolated cells / whole blood; ELISA or RIA)
Cytotoxicity in vitro (cell line, freshly isolated mononuclear cells and or whole-blood; trypan bluedye exclusion, acridine orange staining or MTT-turnover)
